THIS WEEK'S letter) ARCHIVED LETTERS:
Dear Kindergarten Parents:
This is my final letter to you! I want
to say that I have had a spectacular year and I have loved getting to
know each and every student in this class. You all have a child that is
unique, interesting, and a joy to have in class. I will miss ALL of
their smiling faces!
Remember, the summer program will be
open as soon as school is out and drop-ins are welcome.
I will be sending a few things home
that I wish to explain. First, I will be sending home a Dolch Sight
Word List with suggestions on the back. The list of suggestions is
there to give you an idea of what to work with your child on this
summer. They are there to keep your child’s memory fresh on things
discussed in class so they are especially prepared for First Grade. The
sight words are also there for this reason. Work with your children on
these words because it will help them read with ease. Start with making
sure they know the preprimer and primer. Over the summer I would focus
on the First Grade words and move up from there.
However, if you do nothing else this
summer, have a good time and pick up a few good books. These children
enjoy books and they love to show off their skills in reading. Let them
read to you! Biscuit books (about Biscuit the dog), Puppy Mudge books,
and any book that says, “I Can Read” on them, are great beginning books
for kids. If your child is still an emergent reader, it’s okay to start
easy because it builds confidence. If your child is reading well then
you will have even more fun listening to them enjoy stories that you may
remember enjoying!
I will genuinely miss you all this
summer and I hope to see all those beautiful smiles back next year!
First Grade is full of lots of fun and great adventures! Have a GREAT
summer!!!
THANKS FOR A GREAT YEAR!!!
Love,
Ms. Kelley
