Dear Parents:
This week we are learning about the first Thanksgiving as we work on the chapter “Thanking is Good” in religion. In math we are working with shapes and making patterns, designs, and beginning fractions. In Reading we are working on our theme about friends. We are reviewing position words, exact naming words, descriptive words, the short letter A, the short letter O, and the letters L, G, and H. We are also focusing on the words “a” and “to”. We have also been working on compound words. In Social Studies we are learning about neighborhoods. In Science, since the students have shown an interest, we are doing a few short lessons on the solar system and then we will begin a study on owls.
Here are my announcements:
- Our Christmas Program will be December 13th at 6:30pm. Our class will be doing two songs; “Jesus in the Morning” and “Ting-a-ling” (which is a fun song about Santa).
- There is a basketball tournament from Nov. 12th through the 19th. We need all the support we can get! Please support us by volunteering to run concessions, coming to the games to cheer the teams on, or by bringing in drinks.
- November 21st through 25th is Thanksgiving Break!
