THIS WEEK'S letter) ARCHIVED LETTERS:
August 31, 2010
Dear Preschool Parents,
We are starting to learn our sounds!!!! This week we will learn the
sounds m, o, and p. The objects for m are monkey, moon, and
mask. The objects for o are box, fox, and rock. The objects for p
are pink pig, pot, and pen. We are learning beginning consonant sounds
and short vowel sounds. We use lower case letters!!!!! The children had
a lower case m drawn on their hand(s) with a pink marker yesterday.
Today we will use a blue marker for the short vowel sound o.
The children have been introduced to the primary colors: red, blue, and
yellow. We read Mouse Paint by Ellen Stoll Walsh. The children
also enjoyed Mouse Count!!!! We have several mice finger puppets
that look exactly like the mice in the Walsh books. We will continue to
read Kevin Henkes books about mice: Wemberly Worried, Jessica,
A Weekend with Wendell, Owen, Chrysanthemum, and
Sheila Ray, the Brave!!!
Parents, please come to Holy Family School Parent Orientation Night
at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 2nd. We will meet in the church
first and will then be dismissed to the classrooms. This is an
opportunity for parents to learn about the Montessori curriculum
throughout the year. Children should remain at home or in the After
School Program rooms. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
There will be no school on Monday, September 6th due to the Labor Day
Holiday.
There will be no afternoon class on Friday, September 10th, due to early
dismissal for the Holy Family All American Festival. Parents are
expected to volunteer two hours time at the festival for each child at
Holy Family School. Thank you for your support of Holy Family School.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Rucinski and Mrs. Ward
